Rebecca Danielle Sanchez, 31, longtime Deming resident passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Lovelace Women’s Hospital in Albuquerque.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 at 10 o’clock in the morning at Mountain View Cemetery. As per Rebecca’s wishes, family and friends are welcome to share any fond memories and stories they had shared with her. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.
Rebecca was born February 7, 1990 in El Paso, TX to Arturo Lara and Trinite Sanchez. Rebecca was a loving, and loyal daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and coworker. She has always been a huge support to her friends and family, in numerous ways. Rebecca accomplished many things in her 31 years, she is a true humanitarian. After graduating with her undergraduate, she volunteered 14 months of her life to the Peace Corps where she found her true passion, social work. While working on her master’s degree in social work she dedicated her career and life to helping others. After the Peace Corps, she returned to her hometown of Deming where she was a victim advocate at the local domestic violence shelter. From there she worked as a developmental specialist helping children with developmental delays. Rebecca is a Licensed Master Social Worker who worked full time for the New Mexico Department of Health where she made an impact in her community through public health. Rebecca also worked with and supported many different organizations within her community, some of which included CHANCES, Silver Linings, among others.
She is survived by her parents, Arturo Lara and Trinite Sanchez; 2 siblings, Jesus (Kelsie) Sanchez of Lubbock, TX and Michelle (Kevin) House of Deming; her 7 nieces and nephews; as well as many numerous extended family and friends.
