Rita M. Arellano

Rita Martinez Arellano, 76 of Silver City passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. 

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6 pm on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Bacas Funeral Chapels led by Deacon Art Gutierrez. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 am on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.  The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery.  Officiating will be Father Oliver Obele.  Serving as casket bearers will be Adam Arellano, Matthew Arellano, Joey Arellano, Derek Gannaway, Bobby Gannaway, and Chris Gannaway.

Rita was born October 6, 1944 in Clint, TX to Juan and Simona Espinoza Martinez.  She and her family moved to Santa Rita, NM in 1951 and remained a resident of Grant County, New Mexico for the remainder of her life. She was a practicing Catholic and a member of St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

She is survived by three sons, Adam M Arellano (Robbin), Gabriel Arellano (Yvonne), and Joseph “Joey” Arellano (Marcella); 15 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren; siblings, Abran Martinez, Pas Martinez, Dolores Martinez Rodriguez, Guadalupe Martinez, Mariola Martinez and Larry Martinez.   Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Fisher Arellano; a granddaughter, Melissa Arellano; her parents, Juan and Simona Martinez; siblings, Antonia Martinez Gloria, Valentina Martinez Valenzuela and Jesus Martinez.
