Rito Escareño Salazar

Rito Escareño Salazar, 68, longtime Deming resident entered eternal rest on Friday, December 27, 2024 in El Paso, TX.

A viewing will be held Monday, January 6, 2025 from 4 to 6 o’clock in the evening at Baca’s Funeral Chapel. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will then be recited at 6 which will be led by Elizabeth Dominguez. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 11 o’clock in the morning at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Fr. Tom Smith will be officiating.

Rito was born November 27, 1956 in Villa Nueva, Zacatecas, Mexico to Francisco Escareño Mendoza and Maria Salazar Acosta. Rito worked as farm laborer for many years to provide for his family. He was a very hard worker and excelled in many duties. He was a handyman and could build or fix just about anything. Rito was a very helpful man to many and was always available to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed being outdoors and was very fond in watching rodeos as well as being part of them as well. Rito also loved listening to music which brought him much joy. He was also a very funny man and always enjoyed joking around with others. Besides being a jokester, he was a very witty and smart man as well. Rito was a religious man and was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. But what he was best known for was being a good father to his children and being the protector to all his family.

Rito is survived by his children, Francisco Martin (Narcisa) Escareño, Ernesto (Jodi) Escareño, Rito Escareño, Evangelina (Marco) Olivas, and Maria (Emanuel) Escareño; 9 siblings, Evaristo (Maria de la Luz Villagrana) Escareño, Jose (Graciela) Escareño Salazar, Martin (Antonia Carillo), Crescencio Escareño, J. Guadalupe (Paula) Escareño, Manuela Escareño, Amelia (Refugio) Villagrana, Maria del Refugio (Angel) Villagrana, and Gerarda Escareño; as well as his 5 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Maria, and his beloved wife, Bertha Escareño.

Receiving the honor to serve as Rito’s pallbearers will be Francisco Escareño, Ernesto Escareño, Rito Escareño, J. Guadalupe Escareño, Miguel Escareño, and Miguel Angel Villagrana.
