Robert Donald Carr, 84, Longtime resident of Mimbres passed away Monday, May 31, 2021 at his home.
Visitation will begin Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 10:30 in the morning at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mimbres Branch) in Mimbres. Funeral services will follow at 11 with Branch President Charles White officiating. Concluding services and interment with the dedication of the grave will follow at Georgetown Cemetery in Georgetown.
Robert was born May 16, 1937 in Marionville, MO to Woodrow and Lula Carr. He served in the United States Army in company “A” of the 122nd Armored Ordance Division as a tank mechanic in Germany. Robert drove semis for Reading & Bates for many years. He drove and operated heavy equipment, laying pipelines with Panhandle Construction. He was a supervisor for Echo Trucking. He also worked for Floyd and Ray Fowler and later in life for Jim and Jeb Fowler. In May 2020 he retired from Fowler Brother’s Construction. Robert was a man of many talents. There was no heavy equipment and machinery he couldn’t figure out how to fix, operate and then proceed to run circles around everyone with it. He loved trains, old Peterbilt’s, dirt track racing and his family.
Survivors include his loving wife, Linda of the home; 2 sons, Robert Donald Carr Jr. of TX and Donald Franklin (Patricia) Carr of Las Cruces; 2 daughters, Stephanie (Fred) Greene of Amarillo, TX and Shannon (Charles) White of Mimbres; 2 brothers, Floyd (Marion) Carr of Marionville, MO and Randy (Beverly) Branham of Webb City, MO; 1 sister, June (John) Fritz of Monett, MO; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren as well as many numerous extended family and friends.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Lula Carr; 3 brothers, Jimmy Branham, Richard and Howard Carr; a sister, Judy Weathermon and 1 great-granddaughter, Alexandra Morones.
Serving as pallbearers will be Donald Carr, Kurtis Thatcher, Frank Wright Jr., Russell Caryell, Michael and Jared White.
