Robert “Bobby” Flores, 85, lifelong resident of Columbus entered eternal rest on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces.
Visitation will begin Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 9 o’clock in the morning at Holy Family Catholic Church. Recitation of the holy rosary will be recited by Irma Jaurequi at 10. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 with the rite of committal and interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Fr. Prakasham Babu, Pastor will officiate. Military Honors will be accorded. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, 33% of the capacity of the church will be allowed, must wear a mask and social distancing will apply.
Bobby was born July 21, 1935 in Columbus, New Mexico to Steve D. Flores and Martha Diaz. Bobby enlisted into the United States Army National Guard and was stationed in Ft. Bliss, El Paso, Texas. After his service he worked to help support his family. Mainly in construction. Bobby married Paulina Aguayo and together they raised their 7 children.
He is survived by his wife, Paulina Flores of the home; 5 children, Felix (Jessica) Flores of Reno, NV, Jerry (Lucy) Flores of Las Cruces, NM, Francisca Beatriz Flores of Deming; as well as Irma Torres and Bobby Flores Jr. both of Phoenix, AZ from a previous marriage; 3 brothers, Steve (Connie) Flores of El Paso, TX, Nasario (Ana) Flores and Lionel (Patricia) Flores both of Las Cruces, NM; 1 sister, Dolores (Lloyd) McGranahan of Deming; 15 grandchildren, two of whom took very good care of him, Michael (Crystal) Flores and Christian (Samantha) Flores both of Deming; 3 great-grandchildren as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Steve and Martha Flores; 2 sons, Gilbert and Eddie Flores; and a brother, Jimmy Flores.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry, Felix, Michael, Christian, Evan and J.J. Flores.
