Robert Rangel Obituary

Robert David "Rangel", of Lordsburg, NM, was called home on November 12, 2021, at the age of 70. He was born in Lordsburg NM, on November 06, 1951, to parents Guadalupe Rangel and Petra Verdugo.

After graduating high school Robert served with honor in the Army National Guard. In 1982 Robert was honored with the State of Arizona Welding Instructor of The Year Award. He continued instructing until 1984 when he started his own welding business in Tucson AZ, creating ornamental rod iron.

Robert met Patricia Marquez they married and raised two children: Robert "Bobby" and Michelle. After divorce, he moved from Tucson AZ, back to his hometown of Lordsburg NM, continuing his welding business alongside his son Bobby. Robert then reunited with his high school sweetheart Evelyn Meza Gomez, surrounded with love along with her family, children, Julian Gomez (Juanita), Felicia Estrada (Sammy), Lezlie Lorera (Robert), Marc Gomez, 11 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

When Robert wasn’t welding, he enjoyed music, drawing, hand-making silver and turquoise jewelry, working with wood, hunting, and fishing. He was artistic, creative, and could fix anything. He loved to share his knowledge and skills with friends and family. Ultimately, music was his passion, his heart and soul. A self-taught musician, capable of playing just about any musical instrument. He played the guitar, the keyboard and sang with various bands throughout his life. His legacy to us will always be the music he left behind.
