ROMELIA R. ALMANZA. 81, a longtime resident of Deming passed away Thursday May 7, 2020 in the comfort of her home.
Visitation will be Monday afternoon, May 11, 2020 from 4 to 6 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel. Due to the Covid -19 Pandemic it will be restricted 5 people at a time. A rosary will be prayed Tuesday morning, May 12, 2020 at 9 o’clock in the morning at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church parking lot with a funeral mass to follow at 10 with Fr. Manuel F. Ibarra officiating. Those attending are encouraged to remain in their vehicle for the safety of all. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
Romelia was born March 10, 1939 in Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose and Josefina (Esparza) Rodriguez. She has lived in Deming since 1955 having moved here from Mimbres. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church where she was a member of the St. Ann’s Apostolado. Romelia worked for some time at Border Foods as a Line Assembly Manager.
She is survived by her son, Manuel R. Almanza Jr. (Carmen Ortega) of Deming, daughters Elizabeth Granillo (Matias), Cecilia Solis (Gilbert), of Deming, Irma Almanza of Phoenix, AZ, Carolina Carrillo (Ernesto) and Lourdes Almanza (Chris Miller) all of Deming; brothers Eddie Rodriguez (Nellie), Jose Luis Rodriguez (Elvira) and Freddie Rodriguez (Carmen); sisters Hortencia Villegas, Hilda Terrazas (Carlos), Maria Prieto, and Rosa Guerrero (Teodoro) and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Manuel P. Almanza, son Richard Almanza and granddaughter Melissa Almanza.
