Rosa Emma Loya, a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at the age 78. She was born on Sunday, June 17, 1945, in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico, to her loving mother, Elena Flores.
At the age of 16, Rosa and her sisters embarked on a journey that would start a new chapter in Deming, New Mexico, where she would spend the rest of her vibrant adult life serving others in her community as a senior home healthcare worker. Many of her clients considered her family, and she would at times be the last kind soul that shared their last days together.
Rosa, affectionately known as "Grandma Rosa" by her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and as "Tia Emma" by her adoring nieces and nephews, was a beacon of love and strength for her family. Her warm and nurturing presence enriched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
As a faithful member of Saint Ann's Catholic Church, Rosa devoted her Saturday afternoons to Adoration, where she prayed earnestly for the well-being of her extensive family and friends. Her unwavering faith was a source of comfort and inspiration to those around her.
Rosa took immense pleasure in cooking and baking. Her fruit empanadas and biscochitos were nothing short of legendary. Her home was a gathering place for countless birthdays, family gatherings, graduations, and special events. She was the epitome of the perfect hostess, making everyone feel welcomed and cherished.
In addition to her love for cooking and hosting, Rosa had a passion for Bingo and was an active member of the local Moose Lodge 2088. She was a devoted member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 1806 since 1999 where she held the office of Chaplain in 2007, 2008, 2012, and 2013. She helped with many charities during this time. She relished the friendships and joy these activities brought to her life, and she shared these moments with friends and loved ones.
Rosa Emma Loya was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesus Loya, her daughter, Guadalupe Teresa Aguilar, her mother, Elena Flores, and her sister, Hilda Costulis. She leaves behind a legacy of love and a devoted family, including her children, Rosie Elena Gabaldon (husband Manuel), Maria Dolores Loya, Bobby Loya, and Jesus Lorenzo Loya (wife Celina), along with 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and her loving and devoted companion Andrew Rodriguez.
Rosa Emma Loya's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her unwavering love, faith, and generous spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends for generations to come.
A Mass of Resurrection will celebrate the life of Rosa Emma Loya is to be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 beginning with the visitation from 9 to 10 o’clock in the morning, recitation of the holy rosary at 10 and funeral mass at 11 at St. Ann's Catholic Church. The rite of committal and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects to this remarkable woman who brought so much love and joy into the world.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St Vincent de Paul, as this was a cause close to Rosa's heart.
Serving as casket bearers will be Mateo Gabaldon, Alejandro Loya, Michael Aguilar, Mario Rivera, Joziah Aragon, and Adrian Torres. Honorary bearers will be Jesse Loya, Blas Jesus Hinojos, Joshua Sanchez, Isaiah and Ezra Torres.
