Samuel “Sam” V. Murillo, 71, a Silver City resident, passed away Tuesday July 2, 2024 in Las Cruces peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Born July 12, 1952 in Silver City, NM to Estanislado G. and Evangelina V. Murillo, he will be remembered by his laughter, his sense of humor and his saying of “being the biggest, the baddest and the craziest”. Samuel was a person who offered love to all and always put others’ needs before his own. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by daughters, Gina Murillo, Lisa Murillo, Kathryn Mendoza, Rosemary Juarez and husband Phillip Juarez; sons, Sam Murillo, Jesus Murillo; and the mother of his children, Priscilla Arroyos; fourteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sisters Juanita Reyes and husband Jose Reyes and Mary Vasquez; brothers Michael Murillo and Patrick Murillo; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Estanislado G. Murillo, mother Evangelina V. Murillo, brothers Antonio “Chief” Murillo and Tommy Murillo; sisters Barbara Murillo, Betty Juarez and son-in-law, Garfield Mendoza.
Visitation for Sam will take place from twelve-thirty until one-thirty in the afternoon on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Silver City, New Mexico. A Graveside service will follow at two o’clock at Fort Bayard National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with full military honors accorded. Pastor Cory Galindez will officiate.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Jesus Murillo, Sam Murillo, Michaelangelo Murillo, Alex Murillo, Jaime Murillo, Isaiah Murillo, Phillip Juarez, Jose Reyes. Honorary Pallbearers are Steven Ortega and Albert Medina.
