SANTIAGO O. TARANGO, 81, a lifelong resident of Lordsburg passed away Sunday February 16, 2020 at Ft. Bayard Medical Center.
A rosary will be Saturday February 22, 2020 at 10 o’clock in the morning at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church led by Alice Ramirez. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 with Fr. Manuel F. Ibarra officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery.
Santiago was born May 1, 1938 in Redrock to Natividad and Antonia (Ozeta) Tarango. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and afterward continued his service in the New Mexico National Guard. Santiago was a miner and over the years worked at the Banner Mine and Asarco having retired in 1976. He enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing, his Guns and Ammo Magazines, his cast iron toy car collection and most of all his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Angie Tarango of the home; sons, Santiago Tarango Jr., Daniel “Jama” Tarango (Donna), David Tarango all of Lordsburg, and Chris Tarango (Cambria) of Phoenix, AZ; daughters Gloria Jarrott (John) of Lordsburg and Rebecca Tarango McCabe (Brandon) of Phoenix, AZ; his sister Margaret Rabb of Las Cruces; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Oscar Tarango and numerous brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be James Tarango, Darian Jarrott, Brandon McCabe, Cody McCants, Angela Ortiz, Demitria Jarrott, April Tarango and Ralph Aguilar.
Honorary Pallbearers are Zack, Jeremy, Darian Jr., Xander, Noah, Johnny, Jazzy, Lilly, Lorena, Ella, Alicia, Ariella, Alina, Leighla.
