Sarah Andrade, born June 19, 1952 in Los Angeles, California passed away surrounded by her family on April 19, 2023.
As a devoted mother of three children, she moved to Cliff in the early 1980’s. She was very kind and caring person who would extend a helping hand to anyone in need. She saw the greater good in people. Sarah noticed a need for senior citizen care in the Cliff and Gila communities so she advocated for a senior center and a summer work program for the area. In early 1990’s she and her family moved to Silver City. Sarah became a full-time college student in her late 30’s and became a advocate for others to start college as a non-traditional older student. She shared her story and gave the encouragement women needed to start college. Sarah was very active with campus activities geared towards students and their families. Her college education continued through the years and she received a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Human Services and Sociology. Sarah loved her job working with clients in the mental health unit of Gila Regional Medical Center until her retirement.
As a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother Sarah will be greatly missed.
