Obituary
Shirley Riley Nyerges, 94, a long time Deming resident passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Mimbres Memorial Nursing Home in Deming.
A graveside service will take place Thursday, January 26, 2023 at eleven o'clock in the morning at Mountain View Cemetery. Pastor Cesar Chavez will officiate.
Shirley was born October 3, 1928 in Hale Center, Texas to Beulah McElroy and Benjamin F. Smith. Shirley served her community for over 50 years as a Missionette leader and Sunday School teacher at First Assembly of God Church. She was also an active and helpful member of Citilife Church. Shirley’s hobbies included reading, gardening and quilting.
Survivors are her two sons, John Riley and Lászlٴó P. Nyerges, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, László Nyerges, son, William Riley and brother Derrel W. Smith.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shirley’s name to the Marshall Memorial Library in Deming or the Wounded Warriors Project.
