Socorro Arroyos

Socorro Chacon de Arroyos, 85, Deming resident passed away Monday, May 23, 2022 at Mimbres Memorial Hospital.

Viewing will begin Thursday, June 2, 2022 4 o’clock in the afternoon at Baca’s Funeral Chapels where recitation of the Holy Rosary to be at 6 o’clock led by Nena Juarez.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 o’clock in the afternoon on Friday June 3rd with the rite of committal and interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Fr. Jesus Martinez will officiate.

Socorro was born on October 5, 1936 in Ejido Emiliano Zapata, Chihuahua to Lidrada Bailon and Jose Chacon. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law. Whoever met her became a friend and she treated all like family. She was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Raul Arroyos Carbajal of the home; 5 daughters, Maria (Jose) Madrid, Martha (Juan) Gutierrez, Socorro Torres, Esperanza Arroyos (Arturo Camuñez) and Cecilia Arroyos; nineteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Librada Bailon and Jose Chacon; siblings, Manuel and Candelario Chacon; grandchildren Jorge Martancillas; great-grandchildren Itzamor Escobar, Erick and Angel Bencomo; and Jose Torres son-in-law.

Serving as pallbearers will be Juan Gutierrez, Angel Quiroz, Oscar and Adrian Madrid, Raul and Alberto Camuñez.
