Teresa Muñoz Chacon

Teresita “Teresa” M. Chacon, 84, of Hurley passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at her residence. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Baca’s Funeral Chapels.

A Recitation of the Holy Rosary led by Deacon Art Gutierrez will begin at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, February 7, 2025 at the Infant Jesus Shrine in Hurley. The Memorial Mass will follow at ten-thirty. Father Casmir Anozie will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Inurnment will take place at the Santa Clara Cemetery in Santa Clara where Teresa will be laid to rest with her beloved children, Yvette “India” and Dennis “Wero” Chacon.

Honorary Pallbearers are Lorenzo, Santino, and Hezekiah Resendiz, Irven De la Torre, Jaime Rodriguez, and David Muñoz Jr. 

Teresa was born July 7, 1940 in Silver City, NM to Claro and Jenny Muñoz. Following her graduation from high school, she made a career at Fort Bayard Medical Center as a certified medical assistant while raising her three children. She will be greatly missed and her memory forever cherished by those who knew and loved her.

Teresa is survived by her son, Ray Chacon; sister, Stella De la Torre; her grandchildren, Ray Chacon Jr, Dymond Roberts, Nichole Resendiz and Jennifer Chacon; great-grandchildren, Lorenzo, Santino, and Hezekiah Resendiz, Jazmine and Adreanna Peña; her nephew and godson, Irven De la Torre; great nephew, Jaime Rodriguez; many more nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claro and Jenny Muñoz; daughter, Yvette “India” Chacon; and son, Dennis “Wero” Chacon; brother, David Muñoz Sr. and sister, Yvonne "Deedee" Muñoz Serrano.
