Tiburcio Felix Barreras Jr, 75, an Army veteran of Santa Clara, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces.
Tiburcio will be laid to rest at one o’clock in the afternoon Friday, September 5, 2025 at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded.
Tiburcio was born January 9, 1950 in Santa Fe, NM to Elvira Silva Barreras and Tiburcio Barreras Sr.
Following high school graduation, Tiburcio enlisted in the United States Army where he served four years. His loved ones will remember him for his love of dancing. He danced everywhere he went and won several competitions, holding an All-star title for several years in a row. His sister, Mary Lou, remembers his happy-go-lucky attitude and their legendary, secret trip to Woodstock when their parents went away for a week in 1969.
Tiburcio is survived by his children, Dionisio, Nene, and Natasha; his siblings, Mary Lou Barreras and Martin Barreras; his aunt Sally Lopez and uncle Joe Barreras; many more aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Joe , ‘Nicho’, and Manuel Lopez, and Frankie and David Barreras.
