Tomas D. Rico

Tomas D. Rico, 88, of Arenas Valley, formerly of Lordsburg, NM, passed away April 30, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving and devoted family.

Visitation will be from 8 to 8:30 am on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lordsburg with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary to follow at 8:30, led by Maria Elena Roybal. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 9:00 am with Father Jude Okonkwo officiating. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at the Shakespeare Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Juanita. Having the honor of being casket bearers will be Brandon Rico, Jaime Alvarez, Noe Pesqueira, Ray Chavez, Michael Chavez and Ayden Munoz. Honorary bearer will be Samantha Munoz.

Tomas was born December 22, 1936 in Pena Blanca, Chihuahua, Mexico to Ciriaco and Brigida Dominguez Rico. He had retired as a pipefitter from Brown and Root. Tomas was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Tomas was a very humble, generous man who was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Anyone who knew Tomas knew he was a carefree, funny person who was always in a good mood and had a smile on his face. Above all, Tomas was a man of family and faith. He will definitely be missed at the Golden Corral and the Casinos but especially by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Jesus Tomas Rico; daughters, Dora (Danny) Alvarez, Socorro Rico and Maria Rico; one brother, Jesus Rico; nine grandchildren, Brandon Rico, Gina Alvarez, Ruby Alvarez, Jaime Alvarez, Julio (Jessica) Escobar, Marisella (Noe) Pesqueira, Vanessa (Ray) Chavez, Samantha Munoz, and Luna Tarango; also surviving are 17 great grandchildren. Tomas was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Rico in 2009, and ten siblings.
