Wanda Underwood

Wanda Underwood, 69, of Bayard passed away in Fredonia, Kansas surrounded by family on Saturday, May 24, 2025. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.

Wanda’s family will gather at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Silver City at five o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at six o’clock. The Funeral Liturgy will follow at six-thirty. Burial will take place at a later date.

Honorary Pallbearers are all of her grandchildren.

Wanda was born October 2, 1955 in Silver City, NM to John Marcel and Mattie Lee Underwood.

She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. She loved listening to all different kinds of music. Reading and playing video games were some of her favorite ways to spend her free time. Wanda will be missed greatly by her loved ones and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Bobbie Arana (Anthony); her son, Gabriel Underwood; brothers, Doug (Lynn) and John Underwood; sister, Betty McCanna (Brian); and grandchildren, Anthony “Icee” (Zac) Arana, Makayla (Oscar) Arana, Daysha Underwood, and Elijah and Keyana Baca. She is also survived by her beloved dogs, Rosie, Lilly and Daisy.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Mattie Marie Peebles (Pat) and Brenda Gaussoin; brother, C. F. Underwood; and her niece, Emma Brewer.
