Wayne Matthew Krack

Wayne Matthew Krack was born on November 18, 1962 in Silver City, NM. He passed away at home on July 12, 2025 at the age of 62. He was raised in Luna County by his grandmother.

Wayne was preceded by his life partner of thirty-two years, Nancy Hollenback. They were a happy couple and he took good care of Nancy. Wayne was never the same after her passing in July of 2024.

Wayne was a dependable and honest employee. He went to work regardless of his health condition. He worked over thirty years in the solid waste business. The bulk of that time was with the City of Deming where Wayne worked at the old landfill on 4th Street, then the new landfill west of Deming and the Deming Luna County Transfer Station. He was a valued full-time employee for Universal Waste Systems at the Transfer Station when he passed. He was proficient with all the solid waste equipment. He was truly an equipment operator.

He will be missed for his calm demeanor and dedication to his work. Wayne once said when asked what his job entailed – “I push trash.” But he was more than that. He mentored many employees in the right procedures for operating and maintaining the Transfer Station and the equipment. He was a positive example of dedication and hard work for all those that knew him. He was an icon at the Transfer Station, always there, always kind, always helpful.

Wayne was a collector and he liked to collect any and everything. He was an avid collector of John Wayne and Betty Boop memorabilia. Over the years Wayne was an integral part of the Moose Lodge. He faithfully participated in every event and was president for many years.

Wayne leaves behind his sister, Lisa Zamora, and sister-in-law, Ruby Orcutt. Wayne also leaves behind three brothers by heart, Richard McBride, Daryl Conley, and Able Delgado and numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne and Richard worked together for over thirty years.

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 10 o’clock in the morning at Baca’s Funeral Chapel. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.
