Wilbur "Webb" Thompson Obituary

Wilbur “Webb” Thompson,78, longtime Deming resident entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 28,2021 at Mimbres Memorial Hospital.

Webb was born on October 25th 1942 to Wilbur and Frances (Mills) Thompson of Carbondale, OH. At the age of 18, Webb joined the United States Navy where he proudly served his country on the USS Constellation. After serving for our country, Webb began his career as a heavy equipment operator for Freeport McMoran until his retirement. He also served as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Deming where he also retired from.

Webb was a devoted, loving, fun- spirited, husband, father, grandpa, uncle, friend and so much more. During his retirement, Webb had a passion to maintain the family home and backyard aka “the compound.” He would begin his mornings before the sun hit the horizon only to devote his time to his full-time “honey do list.” After a hard day of work, he loved to enjoy relaxing to his favorite tunes by Johnny Cash and Hank Williams along with a cold one. Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, grandkids, and great grandchild. He always made sure he left a smile on everyone's face and a burst of laughter with his silliness. He has left all of those he encountered with his tremendous amount of love and kindness cemented in our lives and hearts forever.

Webb is survived by his wife, Manuela (Grado)Thompson, his sons, Jason Thompson of Deming, NM; Wilbur Thompson III of Columbus, OH; daughters, Melissa Thompson of Deming, NM, Kimberly Thompson of Las Cruces, NM, Cathy Lynn Mundy of Logan, OH; sister, Mary Ann McMillian and husband Mike of Columbus, OH; brother, John Thompson of Columbus, OH; granddaughter, Kaitlynn Thompson of Deming, NM; granddaughter, Audrey Thompson of Las Cruces, NM; grandsons, Brandon Reyes of Las Cruces, NM; Brayden and Ryan of Deming, NM; special friends Chris Lavan of Sour Lake, TX; Daniel Reyes of Las Cruces, NM and much more numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Frances Thompson and son, Daryl Thompson.

Per Webb’s request and wishes cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory. Inurnment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery along with his son, Daryl Thompson.
