Ysabel “Chavelo” Mesa age 59 passed way peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday March 22, 2024, at Lovelace Heart Hospital in Albuquerque.
He was born on April 2, 1964, to the late Tranquilino Mesa and Blandina Mesa and was a lifelong resident of Lordsburg. He was a mechanic for Miller Chevrolet for many years, then later worked in the construction field and as a ranch farm hand. He loved his chevy trucks and his dog Ringo.
Chavelo is survived by his friend Nancy Lopez, four sisters Dolores “Bonnie” Mesa, Martina “Marti” Mesa Constable (JD), Mary Jane “Juana” Mesa, and Rosa Mesa Rodriguez (Armando), one brother Edward “Lalo” Mesa (Priscilla). As well as many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his brother Rafael, father Tranquilino, brother Roberto, mother Blandina, and a nephew Gilbert.
Services will be held at Saint Joseph Church on Friday April 5th, 2024 in Lordsburg beginning with rosary at 10:30 to be led by Carlos Bejarano. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 o’clock with Fr. Jude Okonkwo, Pastor officiating. Concluding services and interment will be at Shakespeare Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gabriel Diaz, Christopher Callaway, Juan Cardenas, Adrian Cardenas, Ralph Martinez, and Roberto Mesa.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at the Civic Center from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
